07.08.2013 13:40 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov has congratulated agrarians on good yield and thanked for the good work at a meeting of the Government on 7 August 2013: more than 30 million tons of grain have already been harvested this year. In particular, almost 22 million tonnes of wheat, more than 7 million tonnes of barley and more than 600 000 tons of rye have been threshed, Government Portal reports.
«I sincerely congratulate you and thank the farmers of Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhya regions, each of which harvests more than 2 million tons of grain crops as well as agrarian producers of Mykolayiv, Donetsk, Vinytsya, Kirovograd and Poltava regions, where more than 1.5 million tons of grain crops were harvested, and agrarians of Cherkasy, Kherson, Khmelnytsk, Kyiv and Sumy regions where more than 1 million tons of grains were harvested,» PM said.
He stated that Ukraine expects grain production after completion in the amount of more than 57 million tons. This is 11 million tons up than last year. And at least 75% of grain is food grain.
Besides, Mykola Azarov stressed that this year’s harvest-work has been carried out rhythmically; agrarians were fully equipped with farm machinery, necessary materials and so on
«These are things of past when the harvesting used to turn into „a battle for the yield“, when headquarters were created to save the situation, and the Government took immediate decisions to provide [agrarians] with fuel or farm machinery, Mykola Azarov noted. - Instead, within last few years we have created a system that operates without manual control and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food supports all agricultural seasonal work in due time by usage of the market instruments only.»
