Gross yield of all cereals, legumes and cereals this year is forecasted to make 53 million tons. This was disclosed at a briefing by director of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological center Mykola Kulbida, NRCU reports.
According to him, corn will make the greatest contribution to gross yield. 24 million tons of corn is forecasted to be harvested this year. Mykola Kulbida noted that the average yield of corn is very high and makes 51 quintal per hectare, harvest of winter wheat is expected to reach 19 million tons. However, he said that as of today, meteorological conditions in Ukraine are very different. They mostly favorable or satisfactory for yields of major crops. But in the southern and eastern regions Kherson, steppe part of Crimea, Zaporizhya, Luhansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv there is not enough moisturea in a meter layer of soil. This may lead to the deterioration of most crops, except winter wheat , which has almost completed its vegetation, explained Mykola Kulbida.
