Proskuryakov: Ukraine should actively participate in international climate events

Ukraine should actively participate in international climate events, introducing energy-saving environmental technology, gradually greening of Ukrainian economy and thereby keeping the climate stable. This was stated by Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Oleg Proskuryakov during a briefing at the Building of the Cabinet yesterday, Government Portal reports.
«During my participation in the Fourth Ministerial Conference - Petersberg Climate Dialogue at the beginning of May in Berlin, it became clear that the international community is ready to conclude a new comprehensive, global, climate agreement, which would ensure the participation of countries around the world in maintaining a constant climate,» the Minister said.
In addition, Oleg Proskuryakov reported that from May 31 to June 9, there is an official visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine to Japan, during which it is plannedto hold working meetings within the framework of Ukraine’s implementation of the contract on sale of assigned amount units between Ukraine and Japan and other private companies that specialize in technologies for energy conservation and waste management, and others. It is planned to visit the Fukushima NPP to exchange experiences and establish close cooperation in overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP.
It is scheduled to hold meeting with high-ranking representatives of the Ministries of environment, economy, industry and infrastructure of Japan, as well as with the leadership of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency to discuss the possibility of implementation of projects in the field of environmental protection.
