Ukrainian Prime Minister unveiled monuments to the Heroes of the Soviet Union

Within last week Mykola Azarov took part in unveiling of the monuments to the Heroes of the Soviet Union Georgy Beregovoy and Amet-khan Sultan in metropolitan Park of Eternal Glory, Mykola Azarov Official Website reports.
"These two monuments open the Alley of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. They stand next to the monument of a three-time Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Kozhedub. Next to them the monuments to the outstanding tankmen, infantrymen, guerrillas will be unveiled and the Alley of Military Glory will finally be established before the 70th anniversary of liberation of Kyiv from Nazi invaders "- Head of the Government said.
He added that it was necessary to educate children and young people through the examples of heroic compatriots: «Not a single hero will be forgotten and the awareness of the best qualities, that are much needed now, will be fostered through the example of these heroes: patriotism, love of country, the willingness to sacrifice - those qualities, which, unfortunately, we have lacked in recent years.»
Mykola Azarov also urged local authorities to follow the example of Kyiv and create similar memorials in the regions.
He stressed that the construction of the Alley of Military Glory in the capital city would be completed before the beginning of 2015 - on the eve of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
It is planned that 14 busts of participants of the Great Patriotic War will be erected on this avenue - of twice Heroes of the Soviet Union, who were born, lived or buried within the territory of Ukraine, who participated in the liberation of our country from invaders.
