Mykola Azarov: Kyiv is seriously preparing for a possible flood

Kiev is seriously preparing for a possible flood. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said this at a meeting with community activists, who organized a system of notification and the elimination of the consequences of snowfall, Government Portal reports.
«Now all possible technical measures are taking, large amount of equipment is concentrated in Kyiv: more than 70 pumping stations are installed now, where possible flooding of streets,» Mykola Azarov said.
At the same time Prime Minister pointed out that, according to weather forecasters, the melting of snow in Kiev will last during 1015 days.
«There are factors that suggest that the melting of the snow will not be instantaneous, ‘cause expected that temperature will not be such high. Winter does not want to leave. It would not be such a dramatic warming that always leads to a large flow of water. Snow would melt in 1015 days,» Mykola Azarov said.
The Prime Minister stressed that during the period of possible flood an information service will work around the clock in the State Service for Emergency Situations.
«I decided that an information service will work around the clock in the State Service for Emergency Situations that will inform the public and it will receive signals of our people so take rapid decisions,» Mykola Azarov said.
