45.5 million people live in Ukraine

As of January 1, 2013, the anticipated number of inhabitants of Ukraine will be 45.547.800 people, what is by 42.9 thousand less than the average number in 2012, ForUm reports referring to Ukrainian State Statistics Service.
According to the State Statistics Service, the urban population of Ukraine will make up 31.4 million people, the rural - 14.2 million people.
The largest number of the inhabitants will live in Donetsk region - 4.4 million people, Dnipropetrovsk region - 3.3 million people, Kyiv - 2.84 million, Kharkiv region - 2.74 million.
The lowest rate is expected in Kirovohrad region - 995.6 thousand people, Chernivtsi region - 907.1 thousand persons and Sevastopol - 383.4 thousand people.
Besides, there is still negative natural increase in Ukraine - for September of this year, the number of deaths exceeded the number of Ukrainians born by 4060 people. However, net migration of 4237 people for the first time during this period exceeded it. This was facilitated by a continuing decline in natural population and the traditional September surge of immigration rate, which is associated with the beginning of the school year in the higher educational institutions of Ukraine.
