The Ukrainian farmers are laying almost 4.5 hectares of new orchards next year
06.11.2012 18:44 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Due to the states support of the horticulture industry, there is a tendency to an increase in acreage of Ukrainian orchards, Government Portal says. In particular, this year, agricultural producers have planted about 2 thousand hectares of new plantations, but generally its scheduled to lay 3.5 thousand hectares, which is 13% more than last year. And next year its expected to increase the areas of new plantings up to 4.5 thousand hectares. This was announced today by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk during a visit to the Institute of Horticulture of NAASU.
«Speaking about the areas of planted orchards I want to note that since 2009 we can observe a tendency to an increase in acreage of orchards. Specifically, 2,000 hectares have already been planted in 2012. Since now there is a period of laying fruit orchards, its planned that across Ukraine we reached up to a projected areas of 3.5 thousand hectares. I right now note that exactly rainy weather is favorable for planting fruit trees,» said Mykola Prysiazhniuk.
According to the Minister, currently there are only 91.7 thousand hectares of orchards in the agricultural enterprises in Ukraine, of which almost 48 000 hectares have been laid at the expense of 1.5% fee. Mykola Prysiazhniuk emphasized that a tendency to increasing areas and production is kept annually and informed about the plans for 2013.
