Agricultural production 1.5% up in 5 months

Agricultural production in January-May 2012 increased by 1.5% over the like period last year. Agricultural companies output increased by 4%, while in households it fell by 0.2%, the State Statistics Service reported.
«Among the major livestock products, milk production in Ukraine in the first five months of this year increased by 2.6% over the like period in 2011 (up to 4.29 million tons), eggs by 0.8% (up to 7.93 billion pieces.). But meat production over the same period declined by 0.9% (to 1.23 million tons),» the Service says. For comparison, over the past year Ukraine increased the production of meat by 3.5% (compared with 2010, up to 3 million tons of live weight), eggs by 9.6% (to 18.7 billion pieces) but reduced milk production by 1.4% (to 11.1 million tons). At the same time, experts say, the total amount of agrarian enterprises products sold by them in January-May 2012 increased by 45% over the like period last year, including crop production by 95% and livestock by 2%.
