14.06.2012 11:45 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ukraine is opened for international energy concerns and with their help it strives to become one of gas producing centers in Europe.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryshchenko has said about this on Tuesday, speaking to representatives of political-diplomatic and business elite of Italy at the analytical center FareFuture in Rome, the MFA press service informs. «Western energy giants Shell and Chevron have already come to the sphere of Ukrainian gas production. The state is opened to Italian and other energy centers too, which are ready to bring Ukraine to European leaders on gas production at the expense of development of unconventional and shale gas deposits and underwater fields,» he noted. The companies Ñhevron and Shell became winners of a competition in May 2012 on concluding an agreement on sharing of products in gas output at Oleske (in Lviv region) and Yuzivske (Donetsk region) gas fields. They are planning to start industrial production of shale gas at those fields in 2017. According to the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry of Ukraine, annual industrial gas production at both gas fields may reach 1015 billion cu m of gas on average.
