Ministry of Economics forecasting 2005 first half-year 5.8-6% GDP/6.5-7.1% inflation growth

Ministry of Economics forecasts
Jan-Jun 2005 GDP and inflation growth correspondingly 5.8-6% and 6.5-7.1%,
reported Cabinet press-service referring to Serghiy Teriokhin, Minister of
Economics declaration on Cabinet extended meeting participated by
President Viktor Yushchenko.
“We don’t consider forecasts revising/precising expedient,”
reports press-service quoting Teriokhin.
Teriokhin made it known these forecasts have been made
taking into consideration Apr-Jun prices (on 2005 first half-year results)
will boost 2-2.6%, up to 6.5-7.1%.
Minister added petroleum products/foods markets situation
is under Government control.
As to Teriokhin, Ministry of Economics forecasts are based
on economy development positive scenario (as stipulated by 2005 State
Budget), targeted at 2005 8.2% GDP/9.8% inflation growth and presently
Ministry of Economics doesn’t see any motives for forecasts changing.
Teriokhin, however, also said Ministry of Economics has
prepared as well second, pessimistic scenario of this year economy
development, to be activated in case of industrial production low
output/investors passiveness. Second scenario stipulates 2005 6.5% GDP/15%
inflation growth.
As earlier reported, this year Jan-Mar GDP has grown to UAH79.356, up 5.4%
against
last year Jan-Mar.
2004 real gross product was up 12% against 2003.
