Khoroshkovsky promises 'accurate' attitude to introduction of anti-dumping measures against other countries

Despite the conduct of special investigations against Ukrainian goods on the part of some countries, Ukraine will carefully consider the introduction of similar anti-dumping measures.
First Vice-Prime Minister Valeriy Khoroshkovsky said this to the press on Monday, after the meeting of the EurAsEC Interstate Council in Moscow. «We have signed many bilateral and multilateral agreements. I think we should be extremely cautious, particularly on a bilateral basis, extremely accurate with launching anti-dumping and special investigations,» he said. Khoroshkovsky reminded that to date some Ukrainian goods are under investigation for valid or invalid reasons, or there are certain restrictions. «On our part, we are very tolerant and ask our neighbors to behave towards our country the same gently and tolerantly. Because, in our view, any reduction in the volume of bilateral trade is unprofitable to both parties, not just someone specifically,» he said. In his words, it «makes sense» for Ukraine to increase the turnover, rather than reduce it. «Special or anti-dumping investigations lead to a situation that we simply reorient to other markets. And this affects bilateral trade and economic relations with our neighbors,» he added. The First Deputy Prime Minister also noted that to lift economic claims, it is advisable for countries to be guided by international procedures. «The only thing that could be done, in our opinion, is to take anti-dumping investigations to the level of international relations and treaties, even at intergovernmental commissions that work with absolutely all countries. This only will give us extra protection,» he said.
