Online video game helps fight hunger
01.12.2011 08:26 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The United Nations food agency and a Japanese company have teamed up to create an online video game to support global efforts against hunger.
The World Food Programme and Konami Digital Entertainment have released the game called Food Force which is available in Japanese and English.
Food Force is an application on the social networking site Facebook, in which players must interact with each other in order to get ahead.
It puts players at the helm of the world’s largest humanitarian aid agency on the frontlines against hunger.
To advance, players must procure food, deliver it around the world and respond to emergencies, while building logistical stockpiles.
Money spent by players goes to fund school meal projects run by the World Food Programme, which provides daily meals to 20 million children across the world every year.
