EU-US Summit sees pledges to reanimate EU economy
29.11.2011 18:08 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
President Obama met with European leaders today to discuss issues of mutual concern, including the global economy and strengthening economic ties, joint work to support democracy and prosperity in Europe, the middle east, North Africa and in other regions. Obama said that the US stands ready to help Europe resolve debt crisis and, while much has changed since the 2010 US0EU summit in Portugal, according to President Obama, the fundamental bond between America and the block remains the same. Robert Naiman, Policy Director for Just Foreign Policy, a Washington DC think tank, says the house is on fire and an agreement year from now on isn’t going to do anything to help the crisis at present, which has been deepened by the extremist policies by the European Central Bank that refused to intervene to stop interest rates from rising to unsustainable levels.
