Ministry of Agrarian Policy to boost 2005 soybean sown areas to 340.000 ha, up 25%

As to branch Program Ukrainian Soybean 20052010, Ministry of Agrarian Policy plans to enlarge 2005 soybean sown areas to 340.000 ha, up 68.000 ha (+25%) against 2004 with soybean output to grow to 450.000500.000t.
Program (ratified with Ministry of Agrarian Policy order ¹318/75 (Sep 2, 2004) declares 2100 Ukrainian soybean sown areas are to reach 1.0001.200 ha, soybean output 1.52 million tons. Experts estimate Program Ukrainian Soybean total cost as far as UAH814 million and suggest allotting necessary costs from State Budget within 20052010.
In Dec 2004 Ministry of Agrarian Policy with its order № 465/104 (Dec 16, 2004) commissioned Ukrainian Association of Soybean Producers and Processors to assure soybean sown areas growth from 272.000 ha (2004) up to 1 million ha (2010) as well as to provide assistance to agrarian companies in cropping pattern forming in order to saturate cropping pattern with soybean/other legumes.
2004 soybean sown areas equaled to 272.000 ha, up against 209.000 ha as of 2003.
As earlier reported, in 2004 Cabinet declared plans of establishing rape/soybean cultivation Budgetary subsidizing since 2005 in order to develop these segments of oil crops market.
