The exceptions for certain commodity positions of free trade area within the CIS are temporary, and they will be cancelled in a short time, when the Commonwealth countries-participants will create competitive conditions which would allow removing these exceptions. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has declared it at a briefing in St. Petersburg.
The Head of Ukrainian Government has given example of seizures in three main export items: sugar, alcohol and oil and gas sector. As he said, after a transition period, the Russian export duties on oil and gas will be cancelled. The Prime Minister has noted that these exceptions are not new, they have long since been introduced.
«We are satisfied the agreement, signed yesterday, on establish of free trade area as those exceptions which have been preserved in the agreement, they are temporary, and that is after a while they should be excluded from the treaty, in fact, on the basic commodity positions on which there is a trade between the CIS countries, and the mode of the free trade will be really established,» Mykola Azarov has emphasized.
At the same time, the Prime Minister has underlined that establishment of the FTA would simplify business dealing conditions, in particular it would give the chance to the Ukrainian entrepreneurs without exception and fiscal pressures to work in the market of the CIS.
«Russia had agreed in principle, and in this agreement it is fixed that exception in the bilateral trade would be eliminated. This is the most important and significant because earlier agreement on this was not,» it was noted by him.
Thus, the Head of Government has reported that the trade turnover of Ukraine with the CIS constitutes for today about 140 billion dollars.
Mykola Azarov has reminded that Ukraine is also completing negotiations on establishing of free trade area with the European Union as well as with other countries of the world. «We are negotiating on establishing of free trade area not only with the EU, but also with a number of other countries. It is our policy - to facilitate the access of our goods to foreign markets,» he has stressed.
