06.10.2011 08:47 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine considers a variant for fulfillment of the International Monetary Fund requirements for getting credit resources, which may exclude rising of gas tariffs for households and communal heat-generating enterprises, Vice Premier and Social Policy Minister Serhiy Tihipko told a briefing.
«Still, the government is fixed on the second position. We do not want to raise tariffs, we want to cut the gas price and to actually achieve the same effect by this decision,» he said. According to Tihipko, this is the governments position. «Negotiations are aimed just at this,» he said. At the same time, the Vice Premier noted that still the IMF position on gas tariffs is rather tough. «I you want to be in the program, you should do this, they say,» he noted. The official also informed that at the end of October the IMF Mission will come to Ukraine. The Vice Premier reminded that USD 13 billion are registered for Ukraine on the stand-by program. «This is very good, since today, many countries would like to have such IMF programs and demand grows in the world. The fact that it is registered for Ukraine is very important,» Tihipko said.
