Russia lifts embargo on grain exports
01.07.2011 16:48 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
On July 1, the embargo on Russian exports of grain was lifted. The embargo was introduced last summer, when a heat wave reduced the grain harvest in Russia.
In the first day after the lifting of the embargo alone, 1 mln 100 thousand tons of grain were exported from Russia to several countries.
«This means that Russian grain producers will have no problems in returning to the world market,» Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Victor Zubkov said.
Asked how he would comment on the fact that in some countries, Russian grain-producing companies had not won the tender for grain imports, Mr. Zubkov said: «There is no reason to be upset. Russian grain is of high quality, and it is still popular in many countries.»
