Algeria’s food import bill drops by 10.88%
28.07.2010 13:38 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Food imports bill of Algeria dropped, during the first quarter of 2010, by 10.88%, a Customs’ report said.
Algeria’s food imports, which represent about 15% of the overall import bill, had gone from 3.35 billions dollars in 2009 first quarter to 2.99 billion Dollars in the same period of 2010.
Such drop could be explained by restrictive procedures taken by the government since the adoption of the supplementary budget law of 2009, aiming at setting more organisations to foreign trade and curbing imports bill.
However, Algeria’s exports recorded 26.25 billion Dollars in 2010 first quarter, or a 32.82% raise. Instead, imports bill recorded 19.71 billion dollars, or a drop by 5.82% comparing to the same period in 2009.
