Australia. Best grain harvest in 10 years
22.07.2010 10:52 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Grain crops in NSW are shaping up to be the best in ten years.
Industry and Investment NSW estimates farmers could produce 5.1 million hectares of winter grains, following good rain in the last two months.
Cereals specialist Frank McRae says, with more rain on the way, crops like canola, wheat and chickpeas will continue to develop well.
«At least our crops are established, theyre putting down good root systems, theyve got a profile of moisture under them and the weather pattern appears to have changed,» he says.
«There appears to be talk of 20 to 40 millimetres coming through some of those central and southern areas, so if that eventuated, wed be set up for really good prospects going into spring.»
