Economic factors to favor slowed CPI rise in China in H2, NBS
16.07.2010 12:49 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Several factors will encourage Chinas Consumer Price Index (CPI) to slow down growth in the second half of this year, said Sheng Laiyun, spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics, on Thursday.
According to Sheng, Chinas CPI growth in H2 will slow down due to carryover effect, on the one hand. On the other hand, the current oversupply of industrial products will affect their prices.
Sheng said that the pressure for higher prices in China has been eased, but China still has to pay attention to the management of expectations of inflation.
Chinas grain price is not expected to increase sharply at present, said Sheng. Under the macro-control policies, the grain price will increase steadily but at a slowed pace.
Sheng said that the price hike of agricultural products would have some impact on the CPI. However, China could achieve its aim of controlling the CPI growth to within 3 percent this year.
