Australia's wheat stores down 10% in March

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) announced on April 23 that at the end of March 2010, the countrys bulk storage of wheat grain was estimated at 14.1 million tonnes, which was 10% less than the amount stored at the same time in February 2010.
Of the total wheat grain stored by bulk grain handlers, 86% or 12.1 million tonnes was milling grade, and 14% or 1.9 million tonnes was feed grade, according to ABS.
According to ABS data, wheat grain stocks stored by bulk handlers in New South Wales at the end of March totaled 2.95 million tonnes, while bulk storage of wheat in Victoria totaled 1.5 million tonnes. Wheat stocks in Queensland totaled 940,000 tonnes, and 3.5 million tonnes in South Australia. Bulk storage of wheat in Western Australia totaled 5.3 million tonnes, according to ABS.
