Melnyk: Ukrainian spring crops sown areas now total 11,000 ha
19.02.2009 17:56 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ukrainian spring crops sown areas presently total 11,000 ha, reported Minister of Agrarian Policy Yuriy Melnyk on Feb 18/09 Cabinet meeting. As to Minister, springtime field works have already started in AR of the Crimea. As to him, Crimean agrarians have sown spring grains at 11,000 ha and fertilized winter crops at 270,000 ha. Melnyk said though presently agrarians have some recourses/finances problems, Cabinet decided, taking into account current situation specifics, to perform centralized purchase through Agrarian Fund of 200,000 MT diesel fuel at UAH4,200 per MT/150,000 MT ammoniac saltpeter at UAH2,100 per MT (incl. VAT). Minister admitted these recourses will be distributed among Ukrainian regions proportionally to each region tillage area. When speaking on mineral fertilizers price correctness, Melnyk said mineral fertilizers price is quite justified/adequate, as now Ukraine exports mineral fertilizers at price down against domestic market offer price. Minister emphasized there will be no delay in recourses payment. “Firstly payment will be made and only then fertilizers will be supplied,” stated Minister.
