04.03.2004 10:50 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
«Ukrainian Grain Association requested Cabinet to promulgate Mar1, 2004 domestic food grain reserves in order to determine grain volumes necessary to be imported for domestic market stabilizing,» Wolodymyr Klymenko, Vice-President of Ukrainian Grain Association, stated in his report on press conference. As to W.Klymenko, it is necessary to know how much grain really remains by now in our country, since jokes with grain can result in bread supply’s interruptions. Simultaneously UGA asked Cabinet to systematize available information on domestic grain reserves and to carry out corresponding work with Ministry of Agricultural Policy as well as with State Statistics Committee, so that there were no contradictory information. «As to Ministry of Agricultural Policy, there is 2.8 million tons grain, while as to State Statistics Committee, there is 1.8 million tons: difference amounts to one million tons,» Klymenko noted. As to UGA, lack of exact information on domestic grain reserves alongside with current legislation’s unsettled problems has resulted in wheat import’s delays.
