Agrarian Fund purchased 2007 crop 429,000 MT grains

As of Dec 20, Agrarian Fund bought in total 429,000 MT grains (2007 crop), reported Volodymyr Ivanishyn, Agrarian Fund General Director. As to report, Fund bought 2 class wheat 7,500 MT (3 class wheat – 184,000 MT, 4 class wheat – 216,000 MT, 5 class wheat – 16,000 MT) and 5,000 MT rye. As to Ivanishyn, Fund presently contains also earlier purchased 2006 crop 55,000 MT grains, – what makes Fund total grains reserves 484 MT. As to report, further purchases are impossible as Fund bank accounts are empty. “Probably, next week Bread of Ukraine will buy some lots grains from us, – what will enable Agrarian Fund to continue grains purchases,” Ivanishyn said. Agrarian Fund General Director made it known sugar prices recent growth hadn’t prompted Fund to start sugar purchasing. Ivanishyn said Fund didn’t purchase sugar earlier, either. As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Fund planned to purchase in total 220,000 MT sugar in 2007/08 MY. As to Agro Perspective, Fund should contain in total 710,000 MT grains (12% of Ukrainian internal consumption). As of Dec 22, 2006 Agrarian Fund made contracts for 176,063 MT grains purchases (paid – 155,232 MT). Fund total grains reserves were (with 2005 purchases taken into account) 288,600 MT.
