Court upheld legality of UAC decision on 7 sugar traders UAH17.2 mn fining for 2005 summer country sugar market price collusion

Kyiv Appeal Economic Court has annulled Kyiv Economic Court 26.07.2006 ruling and upheld legality of Ukrainian Antimonopoly Committee (UAC) decision to fine 7 country wholesale sugar traders UAH17.2 mn for anticompetitive concerted actions on Ukrainian sugar market within 2005 summer, reported UAC press-service. As to press-service, Kyiv Appeal Economic Court has adopted this ruling Oct 3. While commenting on Court ruling, Oleksiy Kostusiev, UAC Chairman, said UAC would continue placing under strict responsibility economic entities which unreasonably overrate food articles prices making use of country political situation. It is to be reminded, Feb 2006 UAC had fined 7 country wholesale sugar traders for total UAH17.2 mn for anticompetitive concerted actions on Ukrainian sugar market within 2005 summer. In part., Ukrainian Food Company was fined UAH6 mn; Agroprodinvest – UAH4 mn; Tsukroviy Soyuz – UAH4 mn; Gala-Trade – UAH1 mn; Astarta-Kyiv – UAH1 mn; Trading House JSC Tsukrovyk Poltavshchyny – UAH1 mn and JSC Tsukrovyk Poltavshchyny – UAH0.2 mn.
