Bread of Ukraine to buy 200,000-300,000 MT grains/oil crops within 2007/08

State-owned Joint Stock Company Bread of Ukraine is going to purchase in total 200,000-300,000 MT grains/industrial crops within 2007/08 MY, reported Bread of Ukraine Board Chairman Viktor Bondarenko on press-conference. “We would eagerly buy more, yet we can’t do that due to limited credit resources,” declared Bondarenko. While speaking on press-conference, Bondarenko said within next MY Bread of Ukraine will switch from food grains purchases over to feed wheat/barley, maize, rape and soybeans. “We will perform purchases at exchange market prices,” admitted Bondarenko. Board Chairman made it known Company will get orientated upon domestic market functioning with rape being the only exception (Company plans to start rape export shipments since new season beginning as there are no rape processing companies in Ukraine). Bondarenko added Bread of Ukraine has already purchased 1,000 MT new crop barley (at UAH900,0 per MT). As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Company Bread of Ukraine was founded in1996; presently Company incorporates 81 grain acceptance/storage system companies. Bread of Ukraine owns 2 ports elevators: Odesskiy (100,000 MT total storage/1.5 million MT annual transshipment capacity) and Myckolayivskiy (69,000 MT total storage/600,000 MT annual transshipment capacity). Company total grains annual storage capacity is 7 mn MT (processing – 4 mn MT ). As to Agro Perspective, since end 1998 Company suffered financial problems due to having had got in big debts with petroleum/gas companies while acting as agrarians fuel/fertilizers shipments intermediary. Company had ended 2005 at UAH22.998 million loss
