13.06.2007 10:42 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Viktor Slauta, Agrarian-Industrial Complex Vice Premier, is certain Ukrainian authorities have all necessary resources to ensure country bread prices stability, reported Slauta press-service.
Slauta says bread prices have recently jumped up in some regions resulting in grains/flour market unmotivated rush/panic.
“I affirm there is presently no reason for social kinds of bread to become more expensive!” declared Vice Premier.
Besides, Slauta is convinced 2007/08 MY wheat gross output will be quite sufficient to satisfy Ukrainian internal consumption; as to him, wheat yield decline might occur just locally, only in drought struck areas.
As to Agro Perspective earlier report, within May Ukrainian 1 grade flour bread prices had grown in 5 regions shops to UAH2,19-2,3 per kg (up 0.5-2.8% against Apr); wheat/rye flour bread prices had risen in 14 regions to UAH1,84-2,22 per kg (up 1.8-12.8% as of Apr); highest grade flour bread prices had boosted in 13 regions to UAH2,41-3,05 per kg (up 0.4-7.1% as of Apr).
As to Agro Perspective, early 2007/08 MY (Jul 1, 2007) country food wheat transitional reserves will total ≈ 1 mn MT.
