Kirovograd region 2007 grains crop loss might total 56%
30.05.2007 16:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As to Kirovograd region Agrarian-Industrial Development Main Department (Kirovograd Regional State Administration) representative, this year region agrarians are possible to loose 56% total grains crop (or 1.4 mn MT of 2.5 mn MT earlier forecasted by Regional State Administration experts).
As to representative, early grains will yield just moderate crop even if rainfalls start. These crops have already entered spike formation/blossoming phase, what will influence crop potential since now on.
However, representative admitted early June precipitations are still possible to positively influence late crops development.
Representative made it known regional agrarians hadn’t finished spring crops sowing (as to May 23 data) at 7% total planned areas due to precipitations absence.
As to Agro Perspective earlier report, as of May 10, 2007 Kirovograd region agrarians had sown spring grains at 915,700 ha (83% total planned).
