Ministry of Agrarian Policy: sown crops killed at 400,000 ha due to soil drought

As of this year May 24, total area of sown crops to be resown due to soil drought is 400,000 ha, reported Ministry of Agrarian Policy press-service referring to regions summarized data.
Reportedly, as of this year May 24, crops have already been resown at 43,000 ha.
As to press-service, total area of soil drought stricken crops has enlarged within last week.
As of now, 1 meter layer soil productive moisture reserves don’t exceed 2545 mm (down 23 times against average multiyear indexes). Soil upper layers are practically dry (moisture content ranges within 06 mm).
These data have been received from special commissions (Ministry of Agrarian Policy) which had examined sown crops areas condition in Kherson, Myckolayiv, Odessa, Kirovograd, Zaporizhia, Vinnytsia, Cherkassy, Dnipropetrivsk and Kyiv regions.
As to Agro Perspective earlier report, as of this year May 23, Ukrainian agrarians had sown spring grains/leguminous at 8.1 mn ha (102% total planned). Besides, agrarians had also sown grain maize at 2.1 mn ha (109%), thus having had completely ended this crop sowing.
As to Agro Perspective, Ukrainian Agricultural Minister Yuriy Melnyk had earlier declared he was certain this year grains crop forecasts would come true/grains crop would boost to 38 mn MT, up against last year 34 mn.
