China: the new grade of a winter wheat promises to raise(increase) productivity.

06.03.2007 18:00 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As a result of long-term efforts of scientists of Northeast agricultural university of China the first grade of a winter wheat adapted for frosty winter conditions of northern areas of the country is deduced(removed). Distribution of this grade in all territory of these areas will allow to increase considerably a grain yield, informs IA "Sinkhua".

« The winter wheat has many advantages in comparison with summer. Its(her) cultivation in frosty northern areas of the country - dream of the Chinese agriculturists of several generations », - director of Agronomical institute SVSU Vej Shi has told.

As he said, if in northern areas where while the spring wheat grows only, it will be grown up also winter, growth of crops will be estimated in millions tons. For example, per 2003-2006 the new grade of a winter wheat in the skilled order was cultivated in northeast districts of a province Heilongjiang, being approximately on 47 degree of northern breadth, thus it(he) has shown the good drought resistance and stable productivity.

According to professor SVSU Tun Minyao, in the spring 2005 on east districts of a province Heilongjiang the serious drought has fallen, however on experimental fields productivity of a new grade of a winter wheat at this time has made 3,9 Ô/hectares, and a spring wheat - only 1,5 Ô/hectares.

On official data, in 2006 the general(common) gathering of wheat in China has made 96,16 million t, including winter - 91 million t and summer - 5,16 million t.
