Poultry Breeders Union convinced Ukraine can refuse from meat import since 2008

As to Oleksandr Bakumenko, Ukrainian Poultry Breeders Union Chairman Feb 20 report, Union believes Ukraine can refuse from meat import since 2008. Bakumenko made it known Ukrainian poultry breeding industry companies plan to raise poultry meat sales by 150,000 MT (+ 30%) within 2007, what will totally satisfy country internal poultry meat consumption demand by means of domestic resources. As to Serghiy Gnatuk, Corporation Tvarynprom Directors Board Chairman, Ukrainian pork sales will grow by 70,000 MT (+ 32%) within 2007. Gnatuk admitted pork output/sales growth will be achieved through UAH1.5 milliard investment projects (incl. projects involving loans attraction) realization. As to Agro Perspective earlier report, country 2006 cattle/poultry live weight sales (for slaughter) totaled 2.5 mn MT. As to Agro Perspective, within 2006 Ukrainian pork and broilers production had risen correspondingly by 68,000 MT (+ 46%) and 124,000 MT (+ 30%), up against 2005. Ukrainian Jan 2007 poultry meat sales totaled 50,000 MT.
