Having started 2006 crop beet processing season, sugar plants have produced 14,000 MT sugar

Ukrainian sugar plants have begun sugar beet processing season; as of Sept 10, plants have already produced 14,050 MT sugar (down against 20,640 MT as of Sept 10, 2005), reported National Sugar Producers Association Ukrtsukor. As to report, as of this year Sept 10, plants have accepted 238,300 MT and processed 126,800 MT beet (correspondingly down against last year similar 689,100 MT and 204,650 MT). As to Association, this year Sept 8 sugar beet remainder totals 111,500 MT (down against 484,850 MT as of Sept 10, 2005). As to report, this year season has been begun by 9 sugar plants (instead of 20 within last year). As of now, only 8 plants are functioning (1 plant has been halted due to beet absence), while within last year similar period 20 plants functioned. As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Ukrtsukor had forecasted 2006 sugar beet crop would be not below 20 mn MT (sugar output 2.1 mn MT). Experts estimate domestic sugar market annual capacity 22.2 mn MT.
