WHO: Congo Ebola situation worsening

As of this week, a number of the WHO officials visited Butembo, the epicentre of the Ebola new outbreak within Congo, UN Radio reports.
It is to be admitted, the Butembo outbreak is already considered the worst outbreak within the Congo history.
As to the report, within the visit the officials met with local political, business and religious leaders, calling on them to accelerate their efforts to help stabilize conditions on the ground.
Reportedly, after the visit, the officials admitted strengthening both security and the Ebola response effort is essential to contain the growing outbreak. The officials outlined the next steps needed to adjust the response.
«We will continue to adjust the response, as we have done for each context within each community,» said Dr. Moeti, WHO Regional Director for Africa, ,calling for action. «In the end, it is only through ownership by all the affected communities that the outbreak will end. Some would have Ebola drive us apart. We can only defeat it if we all work together», she added.
As to the report, WHO Chief, Tedros Ghebreyesus, admitted the Ebola outbreak can only be tackled if the international community steps in to «fill the sizeable funding gap», which is now around 50% underfunded.
In meanwhile, all the WHO official reiterated their commitment to «defeat Ebola».
