Chinese researchers succeeded to isolate African swine fever virus

As of recent, Chinese researchers have succeeded to isolate a strain of African swine fever virus (ASF), Renmin Ribao says referring to the China Daily report.
As to the report, the new virus strain has been named Pig (HLJ) 18; the new strain has been isolated from a sample taken from an infected animal at a Jiamusi pig farm (prov. Heilongjiang, Northeast China) where an outbreak of ASF had taken place last year.
It is to be admitted, studies have confirmed the high level of danger of the virus and its ability to be transmitted among domestic pigs.
As to the report, this achievement can help the researchers to gain additional knowledge about the dangerous virus, as well as lead to the development of new methods for its prevention and control.
