Reuters: RF Agricultural Ministry ready to work with grains export union
25.03.2019 21:29 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The RF Agricultural Ministry is ready to work with the existing union of grains’ exporters, but it would still like to change how exporters work and for there to be tougher quality controls on grain exports, Reuters says referring to the RF Agrarian Ministry last week report.
As to the report, RF Deputy Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut has admitted the Ministry agreed that exporters remain in the existing union, but «change their approach to their work».
It is to be admitted, Russia, the world largest wheat exporter, has stepped up checks on exporters since last year, fuelling speculation it could limit exports in the 2018/19 season which has periodically supported global wheat prices in recent months.
In meanwhile, as of last week, RF Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev said the Ministry still plans to tighten quality controls on the RF grains’ exports.
Patrushev admitted the work was needed within 2019 to get rid of gaps within the legal framework of the RF State control over the grains’ quality and safety and product processing, including within the export loading.
«Particular attention will be given to the development and implementation of a single tracking system,» Patrushev stressed.
