As of this week, Eduardo Sia, a representative of the French sugar trader Sucden (Sucres et Denrees SA), has said he waits for a the global sugar shortage within the 2019/2020 MY (marketing year, 2019 Oct - 2020 Sept) will boost to about 4 million tons due to the expected decline of the sugar output within India, Thailand and the EU, Ukrainian National Association of Sugar Producers says referring to the Reuters report.
As to Eduardo Sia, the Thailand 2019/2020 MY sugar output will decline by about 10% as the Thailand agrarians have already started to switch from cane sugar cultivation unto other crops (Indian sugar output - by about 25% due to the unfavorable weather conditions, and EU - by 5% due to the EU domestic market sugar prices’ decline).
