WHO welcomes Uganda anti-Ebola efforts

As of recent, following the Ebola outbreak within the Congo eastern regions (near the border with Uganda), the Congo Government has taken a number of measures to protect the population, including the dissemination of necessary information to local communities, medical examinations at airports and other points of arrival, and vaccination of health workers, UN Radio report s.
It is to be admitted, Uganda has also been actively supporting the WHO in its efforts to combat Ebola within the region.
In meanwhile, WHO Chief Dr. Tedros has much praised the Uganda efforts.
«Vaccination will help save the lives of health workers, and we are very grateful to the Uganda Government for its support,» Dr. Tedros has said.
It is to be admitted, over 600 cases of Ebola infection were registered within Congo, over 360 people died as a result of the disease. Fighting the infection is complicated by the conflict within the eastern Congo, where more than one hundred armed groups are operating. Many local residents, fleeing violence, leave their homes and flee to the neighboring Uganda.
