Qatar to build sugar plant by 2020

By 2020, Qatar is going to launch a sugar factory to strengthen its food independence, Ukrainian National Association of Sugar Producers says referring to the Middle East Confidential report.
As to the report, the sugar plant output will be 110,000 tons of sugar per year; it is to be taken into attention, the Qatar domestic sugar demand is 80,000 tons per year.
Reportedly, the sugar plant is sipposed to be built next year or until 2020 beginning; the plant is expected to be situated next to the Hamad port (40 km south of Doha).
As to the report, the sugar plant is, most likely, to process the raw sugar imported from Brazil.
It is to be admitted, now Qatar is to import white sugar from India and other countries in order to satisfy its 2.7 million population demand.
