Modern geoinformation systems introduced into Ukrainian water sector

As of last week, Iryna Ovcharenko, Ukrainian State Water Resources Agency Head, made a public report on the results of the work of the Ukrainian water economy within 2017, Government Portal reports.
As to her, modern geoinformation systems have been introduced into the Ukrainian water economy sector.
«Introduction of the geoinformation systems within the water sector was made by creating of two software systems: a geoportal „Ukrainian Water Resources“ and „Monitoring of Ukrainian Water Resources“. Why these projects were needed? For the first time within Ukrainian independency period, work was begun on the State-controlled registering of water surface objects with the use of modern geographic information systems. These geoinformation systems provide a real access to environmental information and so each internet user will have am opportunity to get acquainted with detailed information on the water objects, results of monitoring surface water quality within a particular time period for a particular selected observation point,» she admitted.
