Groisman: Our objective is to become fully energy independent country
23.11.2017 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of yesterday, while speaking within a Cabinet meeting, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman said one of the Gov strategic tasks is to obtain complete energy independence for Ukraine, especially since the country possesses all necessary resources for that, Government Portal reports.
«We all remember that until recently the country has been dependent on Russian energy sources and we also remember that it was used as an instrument of pressure on Ukraine. The country has not been importing Russian gas for 720 days,» the PM stressed.
As to the report, the PM also thanked foreign partners not only for their assistance to Ukraine in a very difficult 2014 year, but for their ongoing support. "That’s true that we import gas from abroad. But our aim is not to buy, but to become an energy independent state, and then to start exporting energy resources, " he underlined.
As to the report, Groisman emphasized the implementation of the energy efficiency programs is on agenda, and so the Gov pledges readiness to boost the funding for these programs, as well as to ensure the formation of a fair gas price formula.
