Berlin meeting focuses on development and economic benefits of migration

As of yesterday, a three-day Global Forum on Migration and Development started in Berlin, UN Radio reports.
As to the report, over 700 policymakers from 140 countries, international organizations, civil society and the private sector are meeting at the Forum to discuss ways to leverage the development and economic benefits of migration.
As to the report, senior UN representatives are also participating in the Forum, including the Secretary-Generals Special Representative for International Migration, Louise Arbour, and UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi.
As to the report, the Forum will focus on how to balance the best interests of migrants and their countries of origin, transit and destination, within the goal of safe, dignified and well-managed migration.
Outcomes from the Forum will feed into the creation of a global migration compact which the UN is expected to adopt within 2018.
