Ukrainian Parliament passes law on inclusive education

As of today, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) has passed the law on amendments to the Law of Ukraine «On Education» regarding the peculiarities of access of persons with special educational needs to educational services, Ukrinform reports.
As to the report, 297 lawmakers voted for the adoption of the relevant bill.
It is to be admitted, the law regulates the access of persons with special educational needs to educational services in the educational institutions. In particular, the right of persons with special educational needs to education is enshrined and they are given the opportunity to get education in all the educational establishments, including free of charge in state and municipal educational institutions.
As to the report, the corresponding bill had been submitted to the Parliament by the Ukrainian President and defined as urgent. The document had been drafted in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
While presenting the bill within the Verkhovna Rada, MP Iryna Lutsenko, the representative of the President in the Verkhovna Rada, stressed that about 10% of children were in need to enforce such rights now in Ukraine.
