Support for African women agricultural workers a "smart shortcut"
21.03.2017 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The women who feed the African continent are «thirsty for change» and «aspiring for a better future,» UN Radio says referring to Thacko Ndiaye, a senior gender officer with the UN Food and Agriculture Programme (FAO) report made when speaking at the latest session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York last week, UN Radio reports.
It is to be admitted, Ms Ndiaye is based at FAO’s regional office in Ghana.
.
As to Ms Ndiaye, her agency is helping to empower African agricultural women workers, for example by providing them with labour-saving technologies, climate-smart farming techniques, and the tools to get their goods to market.
As to Ms Ndiaye, enforcing gender equality and women’s empowerment is a «smart shortcut» for sustainable development in Africa.
