Avian influenza cases recorded in two Ukrainian regions

The avian influenza cases in private households has been recorded in Chernivtsi and Odesa regions, Interfax says referring to the
Ukrainian State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Rights Protection report.
As to the report, over 1,000 hens and gooses in private households died. The avian influenza virus was proven.
Reportedly, when monitoring private households in Chortoryia settlement (Chernivtsi region) due to death of wild swans, on Jan 3, hens also died. After testing samples highly pathogenic avian influenza was proven.
As to the report, presently measures are being taken to localize the disease on the outbreak site and prevent the avian influenza virus’ spreading.
