10 million people could die annually due to drug resistance
21.09.2016 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of now, about ten million people could die annually worldwide as a result of their being resistant to antimicrobial drugs known as AMR, UN Radio says referring to Dr. Keiji Fukuda, World Health Organization (WHO) Assistant Director-General, report.
As to the report, the misuse of drugs, such as antibiotics, means that they can no longer fight so-called «super bugs», a situation which has been described as a «serious» global public health issue.
It’s become so serious, in fact, that heads of state and government will discuss the issue today at a high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly.
