FAO: Global food prices climb to a 15-month high
12.09.2016 14:34 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
This year Aug global food prices rose to a record level within 15 months, as boosts in dairy, oils and sugar offset a drop in grains’ prices, UNIAN says referring to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) last week report.
As to the report, the FAO Food Price Index (FFPI) averaged 165.6 points within this year Aug, up 3 points (1.9%) against this year Jul and up almost 7% against last year similar.
Reportedly, this year Aug FAO Food Price Index (FFPI) is the highest since last year May. Except for grains, prices of all other commodities used in the calculation of the FFPI rose within this year Aug, led by dairy, oils and sugar.
