Manitou Benelux celebrates its 25th anniversary

02.09.2016 17:40 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — The Manitou Group, world leader in all-terrain material handling, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Manitou Benelux subsidiary based in Perwez in Belgium. Founded in 1991, the 3rd subsidiary created by the Group after the United Kingdom and Italy has continued to steadily expand. The proof: the 20,000th machine was recently sold this year in this region.

Total diversification

In 1991, the Manitou Group established itself in Benelux under the name Mantrec (contraction of Manitou & the local distributor Treco). In 1996, the subsidiary became independent following the buy-out of Treco’s share by the Group and officially become Manitou Benelux (BNL). The company built itself up over the years, supplying work platforms and rotating telescopic trucks as of 1995. In 2002, the company moved to Perwez (Belgium) in order to provide better coverage of the geographical area. To supplement the ranges already on offer to its dealers, Manitou Benelux has been distributing compacts products from the Gehl and Mustang brand group since 2010 and the new range of MI industrial trucks (Gas and Diesel) & ME (Electric) since 2012.

An expanding business

Since 2013, Manitou Benelux has seen a sharp rise in its turnover thanks to the quality of its products and the professionalism of its network of more than 20 dealers as well as numerous leasers and major accounts. This increase is due to the strong demands of the construction and industrial markets — primarily for work platforms and telescopic machines — but also thanks to the comprehensive service offer (financing offers, long-term guarantees, etc.).

Lastly, the rental market provides an additional avenue for development for Manitou Benelux: «We have been distributing quality products for 25 years, in the construction, industrial and agricultural sectors. Although the latter has been experiencing difficulties, the economic stability of the other sectors allows us to remain optimistic. Our network of dealers is one of our strengths, with real experts specifically addressing customer needs. The sale of our 20,000th machine the year of our 25th anniversary is a great achievement for us. It is the fruit of the high-quality work carried out by our teams and our customers over many years», says Stefaan Forret, General Manager of Manitou Benelux.

A committed company

Manitou Benelux is fully in line with the Manitou Group’s CSR policy with numerous actions associated with the «Reduce Fuel-Eco Program», particularly through responsible and sustainable trade relations with all of its suppliers, and through training for its customers on better use of their machines, helping bring down fuel consumption. A program more commonly known within the Group as «Reduce TCO». The subsidiary’s latest action has been the installation of 225 solar panels over 360m² to produce more than 50,000 Kwh/year in order to provide a responsible response to the energy needs of the Manitou BNL teams.

Supported by its 19 employees, Manitou Benelux is optimistic about the future and intends to increase its market share in work platforms, industrial fork-lift trucks and compact trucks (Gehl & Mustang). The roll-out of the comprehensive service offer across Benelux is also bolstering the confidence of Manitou Benelux.
