29.08.2016 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Refugee children who are presently stranded in Greece are facing a «double crisis», UN Radio says referring to the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) last week Fri report.
As to the UNICEF, around 27,500 children are presently in Greece after having had fled countries such as Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Nearly 2,300 have arrived so far within this year Aug (up against this year Jul 1,900).
It is to be admitted, the UNICEF representative Sarah Crowe has just returned from Greece and told reporters that it is critical to get refugee children back to school.
«There’s a real sense that children are facing a double crisis because they are stranded in Greece, they are not able to move on and now they have growing needs, of education, of health and so on. So we really are making a strong effort now to put in place proper learning facilities,» she said.
She stressed 2,250 children in Greece are unaccompanied, and the UNICEF is concerned about the risk of exploitation.
