Ban: SDG advocates to promote global development goals
20.01.2016 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Royalty, Nobel laureates, athletes and entertainers are among the eminent persons from around the world who will help the UN to bring about a better future for all people and the planet, UN Radio says referring to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon yesterday report.
As to Ban, these are new advocates for global development goals known as SDGs.
As to him, they are Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gbowee from Liberia, football star Lionel Messi from Argentina, and pop singer Shakira from Colombia. These are just a few of the 18 eminent global citizens who will be using their powerful voices to garner support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Aimed at eradicating extreme poverty while also combating climate change, the goals will guide global development priorities over the next 15 years.
It is to be admitted, Ghanas President John Dramani Mahama and Norways Prime Minister Erna Solberg will co-chair the group of SDG Advocates.
