Pope Francis urges strong climate deal in Paris

While speaking at the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, the Head of the worldwide Catholic Church, Pope Francis urged the world leaders to make a strong agreement at next week’s climate change conference in Paris, France, UN Radio reports.
As to the Pope, the world is now faced with a choice which cannot be ignored: either to improve or to destroy the environment.

It is to be reminded, now the Pope Francis is visiting Africa for the first time.
The Pontiff arrived in Kenya on Wed, the first stop on a three-nation tour which will include Uganda and the Central African Republic, which had been beset by ethnic and religious tensions.
As to the report, at UNEP in Nairobi, the Pope focused on the forthcoming international conference on climate change being held in Paris next week. He was speaking through an interpreter.
«In a few days time an important meeting on climate change will be held in Paris, where the international community as such will once again confront these issues. It would be sad, and I dare say even catastrophic, were particular interests to prevail over the common good and lead to manipulating information in order to protect their own plans and projects,» the Pope stressed.
The Pope hopes the conference in the French capital will lead to a universal agreement to reverse climate change.
